Makeup for Christmas dinner

I went to a Christmas dinner with my colleagues 2 weekends ago. It was really fun to put on makeup on myself because I haven’t done that kind of makeup for a while, and also because I was putting on makeup for a few colleagues.

For my own look, I went for golden eyes and red lips. I used my Maybelline Color Tattoo in 75-24K Gold as base, and topped it off with “Strike” from the Urban Decay Vice2 palette. The lippie is Revlon Super Lustrous in 004 Retro Red.

Here are some close-ups. No filter.

So these are my beautiful colleagues that allowed me to put makeup on them. We did the makup in the bathroom which made it a little hard to capture the colours. Kristina (first row) got a dark green eye look, Marie (middle row) got a bordeux eye look, and Tine (3rd row) got a purple eye look (although it’s a little hard to tell from the pictures). I used some nyx singles, Maybelline Color Tattoos (Promegranate Punk and Painted Purple) as bases for Kristina and Tine, and the MUA makeup palette in Undressed.

Okay, one more selfie:

I need more occasions to do this kind of festive looks!!

Grey smokey eye with Urban Decay Vice2

This is a look I did for annual dinner at the company I was interning. The theme was wild wild west, so I did this look and put on a cowgirl hat 🙂

I primarily used the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette. Poison on the whole lid, and then Smokeout as the contour colour. And then Lovesick for some pretty shimmer.

Habit and Rewind were used as transition colours, and Dope as highlighter on the inner corners.

I can’t say it enough. Remember to use an eyeshadow primer for optimal colour saturation!

I had a really fun night with too much food. It was a perfect ending to my stay as an intern in the company and Hong Kong in general.

Exotic green

Exotic green… that’s what the gorgeous single eyeshadow from NYX is called. Loving this shade. Just wanted to show a few pictures of the look I achieved from playing a little with it. Note: I do realise that I’m oiling like crazy and that the lashes aren’t sticking very well, hence my negative review of the Ardell lash glue.

Oh how much better I can look with a lower quali phone camera and filters haha!!

Other main products used:

– The lashes are from MUA, in Vixen.

– NYX blush in Cinnamon – it’s a really pretty burned orange which went so well with this look.

– NYX lipstick in Ceto.

Romantic rosy look

I started playing a little, and ended up with this:

20130911_134020

Here is a step by step for this look:

1. I primed my face with Makeup Forever HD Primer in #6.

2. For foundation, I used Makeup Forever HD foundations where I mixed two colours. See my other post for more details.

3. Primed the eyes with Urban Decay primer potion.

4. Defined my brows(here’s how I did it) with YSL eyebrow pencil in no. 5, and started the eyelook:

5. I started off putting a very matte light colour on the whole lid so that the other colours will show up better.

6. I used the Sleek iDivine Storm palette. Oh my, I love this palette. I mixed 1 and 2 and applied on the lids, starting from inner corners and blended outwards.

7. As I wanted more of the light rosy colour(1) at the inner corners, I applied more of that.

8. I used 3 as the contouring colour. And another lighter matte colour as a transition colour.

9. I started off mixing 4 and 5 and lined under my eyes. I sprayed the brush with elf’s Makeup lock and seal for better staying power. I then went back to 4 and applied more of that blue. I did this using Sigma Small Angle E65 brush.

10. Used 6 to highlight inner corners and brow bones.

11. Lined the eyes with Bobbi Brown gel liner, using the same E65 brush.

12. Curled, applied false lashes, and mascara. See this post for how I applied the false lashes.

13. For undereye concealer, I used MAC Moisturecover in NC35, and for spots, I used Makeup Forever full cover concealer in #10.

14. Contoured the face with Makeup Forever HD concealer in 355, and highlighted with Clinique concealer in medium.

15. Powdered the face with MAC Studio Fix in NC42.

16. Blush is NYX Dusty Rose.

17. Lipstick is Revlon Lip butter in Lollipop for a more romantic look.

Done!

Soft coral eyes and rosy lips for a Summer day

A very quick MOTD

Shots taken with my bad front camera of my phone. Having a bad selfie day, but here it is:

PicsArt_1378699355326

For the eyes, I used L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in 039 Magnetic Coral. With these shadows, I find that it is best to apply with fingers.

For the rosy lips, I used Revlon Super Lustrous in 423 Pink Velvet. I love putting on a generous coat, massage the colour in, and then dab a tissue on the lips to get all excess lipstick off. I get a really pretty rosy tint by doing this.

With the soft colours, I wanted a heavier line, so I used Kiss me, Heroine make, impact liquid eyeliner.

Have a nice week, everyone.

Teal and purple liners

As always, I was browsing through Instagram, and was caught by this beautiful look by @auroramakeup. I liked it so much that I wanted to recreate the look, and this is how it turned out:

???????????????????????????????

The original look by @auroramakeup is this one:

I didn’t have the exact same blue, and her liner is thicker and more smudged out. And I didn’t use false lashes. And I would blame her much prettier result on her better lighting, camera etc. 😉 😉

For the eyeliners, I just used my LA Girl Glide gel liner in Gypsy Teal, and Gosh Purple Stain.

Here are more pictures of the look:

Black smokey eye

Lately, I have been struggling with getting back to a normal day rythm. On top of that, I’m trying to get some study done, plus looking for a job. Feel like I have too much going on. I just missed playing around with makeup. For me, it’s like therapy. So I allowed myself to play today!

I suddenly felt like doing a black smokey eye look, so that’s what I did 😀

Camera 360  Camera 360

I started off with a bare face, and primed the eyes with Urban Decay primer potion:

I used the NYX Nude on Nude palette:

And then I applied a lighter black eyeshadow, including on the lower lash line. Don’t worry about being neat. The one eye applied, and the other one blended out:

And then apply a more intense black focusing on the lids. I used Sleek, Storm palette:

I drew my brows before cleaning up all the mess, as it’s easier with the brows defined:

And then I used a golden shimmery colour to highlight the inner corners, lined all around my eyes with Revlon Colorstay pencil liner, curled and applied mascara with Urban Decay Canonball.

I did spend a lot of time going back and forth cleaning and blending the eyeshaow.

2013-08-17 17.33.18-1

For the rest of the face, I tried to keep it neutral and simple: Foundation is Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+, and concealer is MAC moisturecover in NC35, powdered the face with MAC Studio Fix in NC42, blush is ELF tickled pink, lips is KATE Kanebo in BE-2.

I don’t do many heavy, dark looks, so I’m still experimenting with it. It’s also because I’m not used to see myself with this kind of look. What do you think? Is it too much even for a night out?
