Makeup for Christmas dinner

I went to a Christmas dinner with my colleagues 2 weekends ago. It was really fun to put on makeup on myself because I haven’t done that kind of makeup for a while, and also because I was putting on makeup for a few colleagues.

For my own look, I went for golden eyes and red lips. I used my Maybelline Color Tattoo in 75-24K Gold as base, and topped it off with “Strike” from the Urban Decay Vice2 palette. The lippie is Revlon Super Lustrous in 004 Retro Red.

Here are some close-ups. No filter.

So these are my beautiful colleagues that allowed me to put makeup on them. We did the makup in the bathroom which made it a little hard to capture the colours. Kristina (first row) got a dark green eye look, Marie (middle row) got a bordeux eye look, and Tine (3rd row) got a purple eye look (although it’s a little hard to tell from the pictures). I used some nyx singles, Maybelline Color Tattoos (Promegranate Punk and Painted Purple) as bases for Kristina and Tine, and the MUA makeup palette in Undressed.

Okay, one more selfie:

I need more occasions to do this kind of festive looks!!

Grey smokey eye with Urban Decay Vice2

This is a look I did for annual dinner at the company I was interning. The theme was wild wild west, so I did this look and put on a cowgirl hat 🙂

I primarily used the Urban Decay Vice 2 palette. Poison on the whole lid, and then Smokeout as the contour colour. And then Lovesick for some pretty shimmer.

Habit and Rewind were used as transition colours, and Dope as highlighter on the inner corners.

I can’t say it enough. Remember to use an eyeshadow primer for optimal colour saturation!

I had a really fun night with too much food. It was a perfect ending to my stay as an intern in the company and Hong Kong in general.

Purple with painted purple

I was very excited to get another of the Maybelline Color Tattoos. If you know me, I already own a few. They are on sale regularly, so I didn’t pay full price for it. This one is in 20 Painted Purple. I think that this works really well as a base, but wouldn’t use this alone by itself.

Here is the gel pot in action. I used this as base, so applied some other purple eyeshadows on top. Sorry for the bad lighting.

Do you also own MAC’s paint pots? How are they compared?

I definitely think that a pop of a purple colour like this could go very well with any Christmas dinners.

Merry Christmas!

Exotic green

Exotic green… that’s what the gorgeous single eyeshadow from NYX is called. Loving this shade. Just wanted to show a few pictures of the look I achieved from playing a little with it. Note: I do realise that I’m oiling like crazy and that the lashes aren’t sticking very well, hence my negative review of the Ardell lash glue.

Oh how much better I can look with a lower quali phone camera and filters haha!!

Other main products used:

– The lashes are from MUA, in Vixen.

– NYX blush in Cinnamon – it’s a really pretty burned orange which went so well with this look.

– NYX lipstick in Ceto.

Teal and purple liners

As always, I was browsing through Instagram, and was caught by this beautiful look by @auroramakeup. I liked it so much that I wanted to recreate the look, and this is how it turned out:

The original look by @auroramakeup is this one:

I didn’t have the exact same blue, and her liner is thicker and more smudged out. And I didn’t use false lashes. And I would blame her much prettier result on her better lighting, camera etc. 😉 😉

For the eyeliners, I just used my LA Girl Glide gel liner in Gypsy Teal, and Gosh Purple Stain.

Here are more pictures of the look:

Midnight blue smokey eyes

Usually, I like lighter and fresher eye looks…. because it’s so easy, and as much as I love makeup – most days I’m lazy with it. So I don’t do this kind of darker look very often, but this is the look I did yesterday:

For the eyes, I was using:

– Urban Decay primer potion (priming the eyes can make a huge difference)

– A light colour as base

– The Storm palette:

I applied the midnight blue colour(1) on my lid, making sure not to bring it up too much. I kept layering this colour a few times. And then I smudged it up slightly to avoid any harsh line. I contoured with the black shade(2), making sure to apply it very lightly as I only want a hint of darker colour on the outer corner. Blend, blend, blend, blend. I then used a lighter shade as a transition colour(3) and applied it on the rest of the lids. I then used a light shimmery champagne colour(4) and lightly dabbed it on the browbone, and on the inner corners of my eyes – making sure to blend it properly to avoid the inner corners screaming shimmer. But it was a very important step in order to brighten up the eyes because this is a darker look. I finished off by smudging on a darker brown colour on the lower lashline, just to connect with the rest of the eyes.

I wanted a subtle look. So I didn’t want to put on a heavy eyeliner. I used a soft, black pencil liner I can smudge out – with Revlon colorstay black pencil liner. This liner is so creamy and has good staying power – just make sure to go over it/smudge it with a Q-tip. I only gave the liner a tiny lift without winging it as such. As I had a night out, I avoided to put on any dark/black liner/mascara under my eyes – black smudge is the last thing I wanted last night! So I kept it clean with only the smudged dark brown colour. I of course, topped the whole look off by curling my lashes with my beloved Shiseido eyelash curler and mascara. I used Maybelline Falsies and Maybelline Volum Express Rocket for even bigger lashes.

For the rest, I was wearing:

– Estee Lauder Futurist in #66. This is a sample I got from the counter. I’m quite satisfied with the colour match.

– Revlon Colorstay concealer in medium/deep

– Milani multitasker powder in 05 Tan

– Lioele eyebrow pencil in 02

– NYX powder blush in Dusty Rose

– Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in 423 Pink Velvet – for a very pretty rosie tint on my lips and good staying power by doing this:

tip: I put on a generous coat, and massaged it in my lips, and then I blotted the rest off with a tissue until I’m left with a tint. It can look rather dry, so I topped it off with:

– Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in 080 Cherries in the glow

I forgot to top the whole look off with:

Skindinavia setting spray – I realised I forgot when I was out in the heat!!!

Have a great weekend, everyone 😀
