Review of Maybelline Master Graphic

On to my eyeliner number two of the three liners I purchased: Maybelline Master Graphic:

“Liquid marker eyeliner for a bold graphic look”

 maybelline master graphic pen

Application: I bought this liquid liner because of the unique marker pen-like tip. The tip is hard enough to make it easy to apply a line which also makes it more difficult to make a wing. When I was finished, it looked quite ok.

Pigmentation: When it comes to pigmentation, unfortunately, this thing is a disappointment for me. I had to go over this line several times to build up a solid line:

Longevity: It doesn’t claim to be waterproof or anything, and my eyes do water a lot. By the end of the day, my liners were gone 😦 At least, it didn’t smear or smudge. It just kind of disappeared. This might be good enough for those of you that can “keep a liner” on the eyes. This is me by the end of the day:

Removing the liner: As I didn’t have much left on my lids, I barely removed any of it. But I can imagine that it is very easy to remove.

Final verdict: Definitely not a liner that can last on my lids, and the pigmentation is just not good enough. I wouldn’t repurchase it. However, if you’re a beginner, this might actually be a good liquid liner to start off with even it looks a bit chunky and scary.

See my previous post on Maybelline Maybelline Master Ink Matte here.

The next liner I will review will be Maybelline Master Duo.

Until next time!

Review of Maybelline master ink matte

When the abstinence calls, it’s hard to hold back. I picked up a few Maybelline eye products as they were all 40% off. One of them was Maybelline master ink matte in 10 charcoal black as I thought it would be interesting to try out a matte liner.

Luckily I tried this at home. Because Anthony asked me out of the blue whether I have cried, and I was like “what?” and then I looked in the mirror and was shocked. My eyes didn’t really water since I put it on and it’s only a few hours at home.

To make it short: If your lids are just a little watery or oily, don’t risk getting this. The application was like a dream. It was easy to put on and I got beautiful lines with this product. It is not a waterproof eyeliner, but it still says “intense longwear eyeliner” on the bottle which I don’t think lives up to the claim.

My top 10 for 2013

It’s my turn to do my top 10 of 2013! Here is my list. I know that the following products are not strictly cosmetics, but they are products I have discovered and really really enjoyed during 2013.

First, I want to mention the Maybelline Color Tattoos 24H Eyeshadows. They are in a gel formula, and I like to apply them with my fingers. If you want more coverage, just build up slowly, and you will get the most beautiful result. The first one I got was Back to the Bronze – a light browny colour. Absolutely love it. It can be the perfect base for a neutral look or simply be worn alone. When I’m in a rush, this is all I need. Pomegranate Punk is the most beautiful  red-burgundy shade. I have been using it as a base, and top off with a powder shadow in a similar shade which is the one in the top right corner of the Sleek Storm palette. There was a period where I wore this combination every day!

???????????????????????????????  IMG_5937

Talking of which… the Sleek Storm palette made it on the list. I have cheated a little, and have included the NYX eyeshadows also. I just got the NYX Wicked Dreams palette – it has so many nice shades! For the singles, I have 4, and I already have a huge list of all the rest to get! For the Sleek i-Divine palettes, the Storm is my favourite (as shown above). You can go for the most neutral look to a darker, but still colourful eyelook. A very sophisticated palette in my opinion. The others I have are Au Naturel and Snapshots.

I discovered this Milani Multitasker Powder. It is a really good one compared to the price. This thing only costs 5.99USD, and I use it to set my foundation. It is perfect as it gives a very light and natural finish. I still love my MAC Studio Fix, but that one has a better coverage and would be better if I only want to wear a powder without anything underneath. I am using Tan, and I’m an NC42.

2014-01-04 21.59.04

I just thought the Burt’s Bees was so so in the beginning when I used it. I had to try it because there was so much hype around it. But I’ve really grown to love it. I love the minty feeling, and when applied, it does last me a long time.

The Summers in Asia can be really really hot and humid. The Skindinavia setting spray can really help my makeup stay put. Now that it’s colder, I use it when I have a night out or whenever I need my makeup to stay. It’s not cheap, so I only use it once in a while. I just got myself one from NYX which is much cheaper, so would be more liable to grab for a setting spray now.

The Mario Badescu Drying Lotion has been a life saver for me. I have been breaking out so much in Hong Kong. And this one takes the edge of the worst. I hope that my skin gets better once I get back to Europe. I did a post of this product here.

Again, I’m cheating a little bit. Obviously, I have been incredibly fond of Revlon’s lipsticks this year. The first line is Super Lustrous. Mine are all matte, and I like them for their great pigmentation and the moisturising feel. The shades are fantastic. The three I’ve got are Certainly Red, Cherries in the Glow and Pink Velvet. And then there are the Lip Butters. They are so moisturising!! My favourite shades are Berry Smoothie and Lollipop. As buttery as they feel, you would think that they would be sheer, but no. You can really build up the colours!

Beauty So Clean is a bottle of magic I cannot live without. It’s not a makeup product, but it sanitises them! Click here for my post on this product.

The main reason I like this Revlon Colorstay concealer is the shade. I have mine in medium/medium deep. Sometimes when buying foundations and concealers, it can be really hard to hit the right shade. So I’ve been using this a lot.

The LA Girl Glide pencils are so extremely creamy and just really nice eyeliners. They only cost 5USD, but often on sale at cherryculture for 3!! To set the liner, I like to go over with a Q-tip, and preferably set it with a powder. Then you will get a beautiful liner that will not budge. There are 18 different shades. Mine are Champagne, Gypsy Teal and Very Black.

Now that I’m already cheating a little bit, I want to sneak in this last item I now literally cannot live without, and that’s my Tweezerman tweezer!

I hope you liked this post. And I look forward to see your favourites of 2013!

Happy New Year.

Huge cherryculture haul and review

I did a huge cherryculture haul a while back, and I haven’t had the chance to post about it. Actually, it’s alright, because now I’ve had some time to test most of the products out. Let’s get to it:

First, we’ve got the NYX face products. I will have a more in depth review of them later. Just wanna mention that the medium is too dark for me, and I’m a NC42! So be careful out there if you’re ordering this online. As these are face products, I need to test them out more to come up with a conclusion.

IMG_5842 IMG_5846

These are the LA Colors Jumbo eye pencils. They look very pretty on the arm, but too harsh to apply on the eyelids. And they’re not blending very well. Thumbs down from here.

IMG_5852 IMG_5853

NYX Caribbean Collection in I Dream of St. Lucia. I wanted this for some fun. Although I haven’t had time to do any looks with this palette, I absolutely love it. They are creamy, and the colour payoff is great!

IMG_5863 IMG_5864

More NYX blushes for me!!! As you might know, I already own several NYX blushes. These are in Mauve (left) and Spice (right). Mauve doesn’t really show off that much on my skin colour, and Spice didn’t really surprise me. Just another pink.

IMG_5890  IMG_5865

Now, these are my first NYX single eyeshadows. Let me just say that they are not gonna be the last! I love love love them. I went a little crazy with the greens. The only brown I bought, I actually thought was matte(note to self: always read the description before pressing order). But this one has golden shimmers to it. Regardless, they are so buttery and pigmented, and I was just so surprised by the quality considering the low price. I use the brown all the time now. Just that one colour on the whole lid for an everyday look, or a subtle green under the eyes to make your look pop! Below, the colours on the arm are: Wildfire, Exotic Green, Ocean and Gypsy. I will be posting a look soon where I’m wearing Exotic Green.

IMG_5866  IMG_5867

Everyone was talking about these, so I HAD to see what the all the fuss was about. Unfortunately, my lips have been extremely dry lately, so I’m not really doing them any justice when I tried them on. I must say that they are very pigmented, and actually look a little too much. What I like to do with these is simply pat my pout with a tissue after application, and then these just look faaab!!! From left to right: soft matte lip cream in Addis Ababa, Xtreme lip creme in Dolly Girl and Pinky Nude.

Now, I must admit, I didn’t have a cream blush prior to this. I wanted to try and see if I like it. This colour, Glow is really cute. But I still need to work with the texture as I’m not use to it yet.

I also wanted a decent setting powder, so I got this Mehron Loose mineral finishing powder. I’m still not good with fumbling around with loose powder. And this one is (believe it or not) quite yellow on my skin. And I thought I was yellow! This one is in medium/medium dark. The texture feels very good, but I find it a little hard to distribute evenly on the face. But that’s more my lack of skill. I also panic a little with all that powder flying around in the air.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive eye primer, this is the thing! This Milani eyeshadow primer both feels and looks a lot like the Urban Decay primer potion, and does the job surprisingly well.

The Milani lipsticks are supposed to be really good, and the one I’ve got in Red Label really is. But somehow, this one on Fruit Punch does not glide as beautifully on the lips. It also looks a little “cracked” when applied. Smells wonderful though… fruity chewing gum.

IMG_5878  IMG_5879

This NYX lipstick must be the least as I expected. The colour Ceto is a very shimmery, pale, golden colour. And this really is not really my shade. Maybe if I try to do a kind of Arabic inspired look with a pretty green eyeshadow, this might match the look. Ignore the swatch on the right (it’s the Milani one)

The pencils!!! First, the NYX Jumbo pencil in milk which I have been wanting for AGES! It’s as I expected. Using it as a base just gives the most amazing colour payoff of any eheshadow colour. And then I got one more LA girl glide pencil, this one in black. Love it. Glides on very easily and has a decent staying power. And then we have the NYX wonder pencil in Light. The thought was to use this to line my waterline. But what was I thinking? My eyes water like a waterfall anyway. So it disappears in no time on me. And then I got the NYX eyebrow pencil in Dark Brown. Sadly, this has a very reddish undertone which I don’t like.

The Ardell lash glue: I thought that it must be good because Ardell makes false lashes right? Either, I don’t know how to use it, or it’s just bad. It just doesn’t stick around 🙂

Okay, this was a big one. Hope you’ve found at least some of it useful.

Have you tried any of the products before or any of it you wanna try out?

Eyeko skinny liquid eyeliner

I just got this eyeliner in, and want to share my quick thoughts with you.

2013-09-26 17.45.16

Looking at the big brush you would think that it makes huge lines, but it is actually very easy to control whether you want a thin or thicker line.

2013-09-26 17.46.01

One thing I want to really agree with them is that it’s definitely foolproof. It can be a little difficult with liquid liners for beginners, but this one is really good for that. The brush is soft enough to go on smoothly, and hard enough for better control. It doesn’t distribute too much product which makes it easy to make a precise (winged) line.

On the downside; because not a lot of product is coming out, I like to go over with another liquid liner to fill the liner in with more intensity. But for outlining; this is really good. It’s also not waterproof, and my eyes water a lot. However, it is pretty smudge-and budge-proof as it says on the packaging.

2013-09-26 17.46.50

This was 16.90USD, and is available in black, brown, navy and purple. Mine is obviously black 🙂 I bought mine on beautybay.com.

I think this is okay for the price. Would maybe need to try it out for a little longer to tell whether I would repurchase.

Update: forgot I actually took pictures with this liner on:

My liquid pen liners

Hey there

I wanna do a review of the few pen liquid liners I’ve got. I also have other liquid liners, but not formed as a pen, but I’ll do them another day.

IMG_5498  IMG_5499

From left to right:

1. L’Oreal Super Liner Ultra Sharp

2. Maybelline HyperSharp Liner

3. Dolly Wink Liquid Liner

4. Kiss Heroine make smooth liquid eyeliner

5. At the bottom – Maybelline Impact express smooth felt liner

As you can see, the swatches don’t really show any big difference, but I’ll go through them with what I think.

1. The L’Oreal liner: When I got this at first, I was a little disappointed by its pigmentation. After a few times of use, I’ve actually become quite fond of it. I just go over a few times, and the pigmentation problem is solved. It’s easy to apply with, and has a decent staying power. I would recommend this.

2. Maybelline Hypersharp Liner: This one is my favourite liners. I made another post on it here, explaining why.

3. Dolly Wink: I honestly don’t know what the hype’s all about. It’s not a bad liner, but it just underperforms a little. It bleeds out a little, the pigmentation is average and the staying power is only ok. I would say that there are better liners out there for the price.

4. Kiss me liner: At first, I really liked this liner. But I don’t know why that it began to bleed out during application. It does go on pretty black though. Staying power is okay. I will not buy this again.

5. Maybelline Impact Express: Simply horrible. The pigmentation is bad, application not very smooth, staying power horrible. I do not recommend this one.

So here are a very quick review of my pen liquid liners. I think the next one I want to try out is the Shu Uemura liquid liner.

What’s your favourite?

Maybelline HyperSharp Liner

I love Maybelline’s HyperSharp Liner, and this is how much I love it:

2013-09-09 17.13.03

I bought my first one a long time ago, and have used it up, so I bought a new one. Unfortunately, I had it in my makeup bag, and the cap accidentally fell off for me to find it all dried up. I have tried to turn it upside down for a few weeks to see if I could save it – I couldn’t. So I just bought a brand new one. I will take really good care of it and make sure the cap doesn’t get off 🙂

Let me list what I like about this liner:

– It’s waterproof and smudge-proof!! This thing won’t budge!

–  It’s the kind of handy liquid liner formed as a pen. Easy to use and easy to carry around.

– The black is very black.

– You can make a really thin line, but can also build it up easily.

It doesn’t bleed out. I know this sounds weird, but I’ve seen liquid liners that are too liquidy that it kind of bleeds out. Horrible.

Easy to remove with a makeup remover for waterproof makeup :p

I have tried a few liquid liner pens by now, and this one is by far my favourite.

What is yours?
